Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation (CREDO)

CREDO is an acronym for Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation. CREDOs (discontinued in 2006) filled a need for personal and relational reflection, growth, and spiritual enrichment. Spiritual Fitness Division-Europe (SFD-Europe) under the leadership of CNIC continues to support these retreats throughout the European theater for the Navy.

Personal Growth, Marriage Enrichment, and Spiritual Growth Retreats are our core retreats. We hope to support various other retreats such as Family Retreats, Parent/Teen, Teen Retreats, and Singles Retreats. All Spiritual Fitness Division programs are provided free of charge to participants.

The CREDO Retreats have a long and honorable history in the sea services. Conceived in 1971 by Captain Don Harris, CHC, USN (Ret), it was the dawn of a new day for many in the Navy as these retreats aggressively approached the isolated, disconnected, and harsh relationships that many times characterize our culture. The CREDO vision from the beginning was to show and share the unconditional love of God throughout the sea service communities to model healthy family relationships, empower people to discover hope, encourage members to access community resources, and support them throughout the process.

Thousands of men and women all over the world have experienced the love of God through the community formed on a Personal Growth weekend. Even with all the changes society and the military have experienced over the past thirty years, the Personal Growth Event remains a unique testimony not only to the grace of God, but also to the commitment of the Navy Chaplain Corps to deliver innovative, life-transforming service throughout and beyond the sea services.

What To Do On The Day Of The Event!

In general, check-in for CREDO Retreats will be at the Fellowship Hall on Capodichino near the bus-stop and library. If you are driving, we recommend using the parking garage near the Capodichino back gate. You can then bring your luggage with you. Once initial check-in is complete, and a brief indoctrination brief is given, we will board the bus. The bus usually parks near the parking garage. Once everyone is on the bus, we proceed to the place where we will be conducting the program.

How To Find Spiritual Fitness Division—Europe!

Spiritual Fitness Division Europe is located at Capodichino in "Admin II" on the ground level (Room G056). If you are coming from the rear parking garage heading toward the Capodichino Mini-Mart, walk past the Mini-Mart and follow the walkway around to the entrance doors on the right-hand side, passed the college offices and Banca Intessa. We are on the right side of the hallway directly across from Red Cross.
