Passports

Passports are NOT REQUIRED to perform AT/ADT/ADSW/IDTT in Spain. Official orders and military ID are sufficient. If planning to visit another country during off-duty days, either on your own, or on a tour through the MWR Information Ticket & Tour (ITT) Office, some nearby countries (including Gibraltar and Morocco) REQUIRE a passport for entry and re-entry into Spain.

A tourist passport (obtained at your own expense) is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those personnel who repeatedly do Annual Training overseas.

Allow two/three months prior to travel to apply and receive your passport. Visit your local U.S. Post Office to obtain a tourist passport. If you already have a tourist passport, be sure it will not expire for at least 30 days after you return home from your AT.

For more information, you can review the Department of State Foreign Clearance guide.
