The NASSIG Public Affairs Office oversees the dissemination of command information through a variety of mediums, coordinates community relations projects, facilitates base tours, and manages media interest.
The base newspaper “The Signature,” is one of the primary command information products on NASSIG. This civilian enterprise 16 – 24 page paper is produced locally by the Public Affairs' staff which includes two Navy photojournalists, a civilian editor, a local national community relations specialist, and the Public Affairs Officer.
The community relations (COMREL) program at NASSIG is one of the most active in the Europe region and plays a key role in maintaining close ties with NASSIG’s host nation and its citizens. COMREL events typically include command involvement in local festivals, ceremonies, and cultural events as well as an ongoing base tour program which hosts about 150 Italian Elementary, Middle, and High School student base tours as well as 15 – 20 professional society tours annually.

Pink Star on the map below. No appointments needed, walk-in basis only.
