Operations Division:
The primary mission of the operations division is to provide the enforcement of laws and regulations; the protection of life, property and the civil rights of private citizens, military personnel, government employees and officials, physical security/force protection measures; and any duties incidental to these functions aboard the Naval Station. In general, patrol activity can be divided into four basic categories:
Calls for Service:
Security Patrol personnel respond to all routine and emergency calls. This service is provided to over 4,000 personnel, families, local Spanish and U.S. civilian personnel.
Routine preventive patrol:
Routine patrol is conducted on a 24 hour basis. Traffic enforcement is conducted with speed compliance devices. Civilian and Military facilities are monitored with 100% Physical Security/Force protection checks conducted daily. Flight line and Harbor security is provided on a 24 hour basis with a fixed post and roving security watches. Random Vehicle Inspections and a proposed bike patrol enforcement is also included to provide a comprehensive traffic program.
Patrol initiated activity:
Security Patrol personnel provide Special Weapons Escorts, Money Escorts for various organizations and provide additional security measures for special functions base-wide at request.
Administrative tasks:
Security Patrol provides a 24 hour customer service desk. Incident Complaint Reports are processed and routed to various tenant commands as reported.
Military Working Dog:
On board U.S. Naval Activities Rota Spain, there are MWD teams, which consist of certified MWD's and one qualified Navy handler's (727-2084).
Security Training:
The staff is responsible for the development and administration of Law Enforcement training. They conduct training or arrange for the instruction of all related Law Enforcement, GMT, NGMT, Safety and other specialized training. They also develop training lesson plans for the Naval Station Security Force (NSF) and Auxiliary Security Force (ASF) personnel (727-2947).
The Force Protection Division:
The Force Protection branch serves as the command's focal point and principal advisor for all Force Protection issues and provides routine direction. They identify and prioritize Force Protection initiatives for improvements against vulnerabilities and terrorism. Upon request, they will conduct a Physical Security Survey of the interior and exterior of buildings and facilities, and for large group events held in town (727-2907).
Pass & ID:
The staff will assist with vehicle and personal identification, citations and firearms registration (727-2760).
