Programs & Services

Eligibility of programs and services is limited to the U.S. military community. Some programs are available to the installation population at large, such as CPR training and volunteer opportunities, while other programs are limited to specific groups, such as emergency messages. Please contact us for more information on eligibility.

Emergency Messages

The two main functions of an emergency message are to make the message recipient aware of the emergency and to support their emergency leave request.

Please note that only the command of the message recipient can grant leave request. The emergency message only provides verification of the emergency in support of the leave request.

Eligible message recipients include active duty service members and their dependents, Activated Guard & Reservist and their dependents, Retirees and their dependents as well as civilians employed by or under contract with the DoD stationed OCONUS and their dependents.

Emergency messages are sent to eligible message recipients regarding the death, serious illness or birth of immediate family members.

Immediate family is defined as parents, siblings, spouse and children of an eligible message recipient, as well as for their spouse’s side of the family.

All emergencies must be verified by a funeral home, medical professional or other relevant authority figure. Verification of emergencies for non-military ID card holders living outside the United States is limited and may not be possible.

These emergencies are handled through the Casualty Office and the command of the service member.

First Aid, CPR & AED training

OCONUS US Military community members are provided a 50% discount on American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED training for Adult and Pediatric emergencies. Classes are offered monthly at the Red Cross office.
