Pre-Arrival Checklist (Before Sigonella)
1. Read and understand your orders. Ask your chain of command if you need help.
2. Connect with your sponsor.  
3. Dependents: Start Visa Process
4. Ensure your U.S. driver’s license is valid or obtain a valid driver’s license before arrival.
5. Obtain your tourist passport if you are planning to live on the economy or travel. Passports are required for a Codice Fiscale. Those arriving without a passport, will not be able to sign a lease if approved to live on the economy.

PASSPORT INFORMATION

****ALL incoming personnel and families are advised to acquire blue tourist passports prior to arrival in Sigonella, to avoid delays or issues acquiring a tourist passport.****

.  The Passport and Visa Office at Fort Belvoir handles passports for Department of Defense personnel and their Family members traveling overseas on official travel orders.
.  U.S. Naval Hospital Sigonella will stop processing Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) passports, May 26, 2024.
.  A full-time passport agent will arrive to Sigonella in summer/fall 2024 at the installation level, but has only been granted authority to process official/no-fee passports.
.  The Consular Agency (U.S. Embassy) in Palermo accepts all passport renewals and applications for infant passports for CRBA, and are by appointment only.
.  ONLY the U.S. Embassy in Naples can issue first-time, blue tourist passports to children and adults who are first-time applicants and do not fall under the CBRA category.
.  The Palermo office is not equipped to offer same-day passport services.
.  The Naples office can issue same-day emergency passports.
