    CMDCM Powars is a native of Miami, Fl. After graduating from Langley High School in McLean VA he enlisted in the Navy as a Nuclear Electronics Technician in 1993. He served onboard the USS Nebraska for 8 deterrent patrols before transferring to Pearl Harbor. After selection to Chief Petty Officer in 2003 he transitioned from active duty to the reserves. He was promoted to master chief in 2014 and selected as a command master chief in 2016.
