A native of North Carolina, Capt. Chivers is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He earned his wings as a Naval Flight Officer with Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 120 in 2003.
Capt. Chivers assumed command of Camp Lemonnier on April 16th, 2026.
His operational assignments include service with the "Seahawks" of VAW-126, where he deployed aboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN-75) in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM, and with the "Bear Aces" of VAW-124, deploying aboard USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN-77) in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE. During these assignments he served as a TOPGUN Air Intercept Controller and Dynamic Strike Lead.
Ashore, Capt. Chivers served as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor at VAW-120 and with the E-2D Fleet Introduction Team. He also served as Flag Aide with COMUSNAVCENT/ U.S. FIFTH Fleet and on the Joint Staff, J7, as a Joint Task Force Headquarters readiness officer.
Capt. Chivers commanded the "Skylords" of Tactical Air Control Squadron (TACRON) 22, deploying in support of TRIDENT JUNCTURE, Hurricane Dorian disaster relief, and supporting the BATAAN Amphibious Ready Group and 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
His subsequent assignments include serving as the Fires Director and Cruise Missile Officer for U.S. SEVENTH Fleet and as Director of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School.
Capt. Chivers has accumulated over 2,000 flight hours. He is a graduate of the Naval War College and the Joint Forces Staff College and holds a Master’s Degree in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego. His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Strike/Flight Air Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), plus various unit and campaign awards.
