Operations Division:
The primary mission of the operations division is to enforce laws and regulations; the protection of life, property and the civil rights of private citizens, military personnel, government employees and officials, physical security/force protection measures; and any duties incidental to these functions aboard the Naval Station. In general, patrol activity can be divided into four basic categories:
Calls for Service:
Security Patrol personnel adhere to the Joint Doctrine of Understanding and are the primary response force to all routine and emergency calls for service regarding U.S personnel. This service is provided 24/7.
Routine Preventive Patrol:
Routine patrols are conducted 24/7 and consist of crisis response, traffic enforcement, random antiterrorism measures, and building/area checks during working and non-working hours. Additionally, harbor security is provided 24/7.
Patrol Initiated Activity:
Security Patrols provide weapons, escorts and funds, escorts for various organizations and provide additional security measures for special functions base-wide.
Administrative Tasks:
Security Patrol provides 24/7 customer service to receive any calls or walk-in complaints. Incident Complaint Reports are processed and routed to various tenant commands as reported.
Military Working Dog (MWD):
Naval Station Rota is equipped with various MWD teams, capable of patrol certification, explosives and drug detection (727-2084).
Security Training:
The staff is responsible for tracking, facilitating and documenting all higher headquarters and Commander, Naval Installations Command (CNIC) training requirements for all Naval Security Force (NSF) and Auxiliary Security Force (ASF) personnel. Aside from force protection training requirements, they ensure standardized Navy training requirements are completed and documented (727-2947).
The Antiterrorism Division:
The Antiterrorism Division encompasses a vast range of specialties, including risk management, crisis response, threat assessments, vulnerability assessments, and criticality assessments, and serve as the principal advisor for all Antiterrorism-related issues (727-2907).
The Physical Security Division:
The Physical Security Division is the primary stake holder for access control to U.S areas, construction planning to ensure the highest level of protection, barrier placement, and interior/exterior physical security surveys (727-2907).
U.S Spanish Services/Pass & ID:
This division consists of local nationals who assist U.S personnel with base access, guest passes, vehicle registration, fishing licenses, drivers licenses, translation services, and serve as the primary liaison between U.S and civil law enforcement (727-2760).
