A native of Pickerington, Ohio, CDR Kyle Oliver Kendall graduated from Ohio State University in 2009 with a double major in History and International Studies, minor in Chinese, and a commission from the NROTC program. Kyle also completed two Chinese study abroad programs while an undergrad. As a LT, he graduated in 2015 with distinction from the Navy Postgraduate School with a Masters in National Security Affairs with a focus on Europe and Eurasia, where he also completed his JPME Phase I.
Afloat, CDR Kendall’s assignments include: USS PRINCETON (CG 59) as Engineering Training Officer, USS ANTIETAM (CG 54) as Electrical Officer, USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) as Fire Control Officer, USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91) as Operations Officer, USS TULSA Gold (LCS 16) as Operations Officer, and AMPHIBIOUS SQUADRON FIVE (CPR5) as Plans (N5) and then fleeted-up as Operations (N3) Officer.
Ashore, he was a Director Fellow for the CNO Strategic Studies Group 35, followed by a tour as an Advanced Division Officer Course instructor at the Surface Warfare Officer School from 2015-2016. CDR Kendall served as the N7 / Training Officer for Naval Surface Group Southwest in San Diego, CA from 2024-2026, following his department head tours.
His personal awards include two Navy Achievement Medals, two Navy Accommodation Medals, two Sea Service Ribbons, and Expeditionary/Global War on Terror; as well as the Battle E unit award.
