A native of San Diego, California, Lieutenant Commander Isham earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and commissioned in the Navy at The Citadel in July 2013.
At sea, he joined the Forward Deployed Naval Force (FDNF) and served onboard USS Ashland (LSD 48) as Weapons Officer, Electronics Officer, and Electrical Officer in Sasebo, Japan. Afterwards, he reported to USS Sterett (DDG 104) in San Diego where he served as Training Officer and deployed in support of novel concepts, Third Fleet Forward and Up-gunned Expeditionary Strike Group. Following Department Head School, he returned to San Diego and served as the Weapons Officer onboard USS Mustin (DDG 89) for her Depot Modernization Period. For his second Department Head posting, he rejoined FDNF and reported to USS Antietam (CG 54) as the Combat Systems Officer for her homeport shift from Yokosuka, Japan to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and decommissioning.
While ashore, Lieutenant Commander Isham served at the United States Military Training Mission in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as the Royal Saudi Naval Forces Training Advisor working with Foreign Military Sales cases, such as MH-60R and Multi-Mission Surface Combatant (Tuwaiq project). Additionally, he completed his Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies through the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
LCDR Isham’s awards include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Army Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.
