Lieutenant Commander Stephen Chang grew up in New York City, New York. He received his commission in 2012 upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy with his Bachelors of Science in Economics.
At sea, he served onboard USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) as the Gunnery Officer deploying to the 5th and 6th Fleet AOR, Coastal Riverine Squadron 3 (CRS 3) as Detachment OIC and Commander Task Unit 56.7.3 deploying to the 5th Fleet AOR, and USS Indianapolis (LCS 17) Blue as the Engineer Officer deploying to the 5th Fleet AOR.
His shore assignments include J37 Training Officer at Joint Interagency Task Force South.
Lieutenant Commander Chang’s awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other personal, campaign, and unit awards.
