MACS (SW/EXW/AW) JUAN C. CHAVEZ

Master-At-Arms Senior Chief (MACS) Chavez is a native of Dallas, Texas. He enlisted in the Navy through the Delayed Entry Program in October 1999 and on June 08, 2000 he reported for basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL. Upon completion, he reported to Aviation Machinists Mate School in Pensacola, FL. 

In May 2005, MACS Chavez converted to Master-At-Arms in NTTC Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. 

His shore assignments include tours at Naval Hospital, Pensacola, Florida where he served as Watch Commander; Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia and served as the Command Antiterrorism Officer (ATO) and Emergency Management LCPO; Commander, Naval Surfaces Forces Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia where he was instrumental in supporting the surface fleet by serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Common Support Directorate. 

His sea assignments include tours with Tomcat Squadron VF-102, Virginia Beach, VA where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), post 9/11 attacks; Super Hornet Squadron VFA-102 upon homeport change to Lemoore, CA; Super Hornet Squadron VFA-22, Lemoore, CA; Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron THREE Detachment Bahrain and served onboard USNS Laramie, USNS Lewis and Clark, USNS Supply and USNS Catawba, as Embarked Security Team Chief of the Guard in support of Operation Vigilant Mariner; USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) Norfolk, VA, where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia and served as the Security Training, Weapons and Operations LCPO to include serving as the Installation ATO where he maintained close law enforcement coordination with the British Royal Police (ROPO) and with the British Royal Marine Forces for joint force protection exercises; Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and served as the ATFP LCPO and Installation ATO where he managed installation entry clearances, airfield Customs Inspections, and coordinated with multiple federal agencies for counterdrug operations; currently on Individual Augmentee (IA) orders away from parent command USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19), where he was serving as the Chief Master-At-Arms, primary Antiterrorism Training Supervisor (TRASUP), and Assistant ATO. 

MACS Chavez assumed the role as Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa in May, 2022. 

MACS Chavez is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Course 249V. In addition to various unit and campaign awards, MACS Chavez’s personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards). He is a designated warfare specialist in Surface, Expeditionary and Air Warfare qualifications.
