MEDIA RELEASE: PMRF Announces Cancellation of Freedom Fest 2026

PACIFIC MISSLE RANGE FACILITY, Kekaha, Hawai`i – After careful consideration, the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) regretfully announces the cancellation of the upcoming Freedom Fest 2026 event originally scheduled for July 2, 2026. PMRF made this difficult decision after carefully assessing its ability to host an open base event while also performing its primary mission.

“While we are saddened to cancel Freedom Fest this year, we are extremely thankful to our staff, vendors, partners and residents who stood ready to celebrate with us,” said Captain Robert Prince, PMRF Commanding Officer.  “Celebrating 250 years of independence is a monumental milestone, and we will continue to honor the legacy of our nation’s freedom through our daily mission.  We appreciate the community’s support regarding this decision and look forward to celebrating together in the future.”

Because of PMRF’s commitment to the community, it was decided to cancel the event if it meant it could not be open to the public.

PMRF remains committed to fostering strong relationships within the community and to supporting our military families.  We encourage everyone to continue to observe this historic year to celebrate 250 years of freedom.

PMRF looks forward to the opportunity to host Freedom Fest next year.
