CMDCM JANS VALDESPOU

CMDCM Valdespou is a native of Havana, Cuba.  Enlisted in the Navy from his hometown of Hialeah, FL on December 15, 1995.  College education includes Miami Dade Community College, and Central Texas College, where in 2007 he received an associate’s degree in general studies.  He is currently attending Liberty University Online program, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business and management. 
 
CMDCM Valdespou completed Recruit Training and Electrician’s Mate “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois, and after graduating EM “A” School in 1996, he then joined the Fleet as a member of Engineering Department aboard USS Elrod (FFG 55).  As part of Electrical Division, he completed two deployments to U.S. 5TH Fleet.  In 2001, he transferred to Naval Reserve Center Clearwater, Fl. as Reserve Pay and Training Petty Officer.  Following his shore duty tour, he chose orders to USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) in La Maddalena, Italy.  As Part of Repair Department, he worked in the motor rewind shop during various deployments in U.S. 6TH Fleet AOR.  Following his sea tour in 2007, he returned to Great Lakes as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command (RTC), where he trained both recruits and new Recruit Division Commanders.  CMDCM Valdespou reported in December 2010 to USS Anzio (CG 68), as Electrical Division LCPO and Engineering Department LCPO, he deployed to the 6th Fleet and 5th Fleet AOR.  In 2015, he was assigned to Afloat Training Group Norfolk as Gas Turbine Division LCPO and as a member of various engineering training and assessment teams.  In 2018, CMDCM Valdespou executed orders to USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81), as Ship’s Maintenance Material Manager, and Engineering Department LCPO, completing a deployment to U.S. 5TH and 6TH Fleets AOR.  In 2019, he was selected as USS Constitution Senior Enlisted Leader.  In 2021, he was assigned as Command Master Chief aboard USS PORTER (DDG 78), forward deployed in Rota, Spain, executing various deployments as part of Forward Deployed Naval Forces Europe.   He served onboard USS WASP (LHD-1) as Command Master Chief in 2024, deploying to the 6th Fleet AOR with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
 
Master Chief Valdespou’s personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards) along with various unit and campaign awards.
