Commander Ed “Stalker” Chandler is a native of Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned in 1996. He was designated a Naval Aviator in 1999.
Operationally, CDR Chandler has flown the F-14B(U) Tomcat and F/A-18F Super Hornet while assigned to the “Swordsmen” of VF-32 and VFA-32. He has multiple deployments aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) supporting Operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and earned the distinction of being the first pilot to achieve 500 single-pilot carrier arrested landings aboard the Truman. Embarked aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), he served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Air Operations and Training to Commander, Carrier Strike Group NINE (CCSG 9) while stationed in San Diego, CA. Additionally, as an instructor at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC) in Fallon, Nevada he also flew the F/A-18A-D Hornet and F- 16A-D Fighting Falcon, and is a graduate of the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) Adversary program.
Ashore, Commander Chandler has served as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Training and Readiness and the TACAIR Readiness Officer for Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet where he acted as “Air Boss” for the Centennial of Naval Aviation (CoNA) Parade of Flight over San Diego Bay. He also served as the Naval Aviation Integration Officer for Striking and Support Forces NATO in Lisbon, Portugal where he directed the Maritime Air Coordination Element and Maritime Air Operations Centers before returning to Naval Air Station Oceana as the Air Operations Officer for the Navy’s largest and busiest Master Jet Base. Currently, he serves as Executive Officer for Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy, where he reported in May 2021.
Commander Chandler’s military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3), Air Medal with valor, Strike-Flight Air Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4) with valor (1), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), and various unit and service awards.
