Commander Wood is a native of Holbrook, New York. After enlisting in the Navy in 2000 as a Sonar Technician (STG), she reported to her first command, Integrated Undersea Surveillance System Sea Component East, where she conducted various underway periods on multiple SURTASS ships in the Atlantic theater. Ashore, she worked at Mid-Atlantic Region Maintenance Center (MARMC) (formerly SIMA) Norfolk. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and was selected for commission via Officer Candidate School and commissioned in February 2008. She also holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University.
Her sea duty assignments as a commissioned officer include communications officer, USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), damage control officer, USS Anzio (CG 68), and engineering officer, USS Bainbridge (DDG 96). Her second department head tour was at Commander, Destroyer Squadron (CDS) 22, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. Following her department head tours, she assumed duties as future operations planner, Commander, U.S. 5th Fleet, followed by war room director, Combined Task Force (CTF) 73/Commander Logistics Western Group Pacific (COMLOGWESTPAC), before being selected for XO afloat.
She currently serves as the Executive Officer of NSA Bahrain.
Cmdr. Wood’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six), and various campaign and unit awards.
